You have to admit- sand volleyball socks are odd. They look funny. They’re rare. The pros don’t wear them. (In fact, who actually wears them?)

Yes, sand volleyball socks are just not the norm in our country, or any country. You won’t see Kerri Walsh or Phil Dalhausser wearing them. You probably won’t see your friend in San Diego wearing the either. (Well, the sand is often really hot there! Maybe you will!)

So why should you wear them?

Before you think you’re too good for sand volleyball socks, consider a few things:

1) The pros don’t wear them because they don’t need to.  A professional plays volleyball nearly every day. That’s a lot of consistency for building up the calluses and thick skin needed to withstand really hot temperatures in the sand.

2) Sand socks weren’t made for looks. (Although some designs are intended to look good.)  Sand socks were made to protect your feet.  That’s why they exist. Don’t buy them because you think they look cute.

3) What’s your alternative? Sure, you could wear the toe shoes that are really trendy right now but they cost 6 times as much as sand socks. Plus, the toe shoes don’t keep the sand out. Sand socks do.

So if you’re on the fence about getting sand volleyball socks, I say go for it. Who cares what others think- as long as your feet are happy and healthy!
